Super Camper

Each day at Birch Rock a camper will be announced as the Super Camper at Flag-lowering for a great deed or skill performed. Many have won Super Camper for swimming their Whale or Seal or scoring the game winning goal, but most win because of a kind deed or helping the other fellow. The announced winner will wear a Superman t-shirt the next day, this includes when we're in uniform. So with everyone in uniform at a parade or off-campus event, one camper will be wearing a Superman Tee. When wearing the Super Camper Shirt the camper is expected to always have it tucked in, have excellent table manners, and is short model what an ideal camper acts like. The staff do their best to keep all sizes of SC shirts clean and ready but occasionally a lower camper will have to wear an upper campers sized shirt for supper the night they are announced because the sized that fits them is dirt, this is always humorous to see. Do to the importance of the tradition campers are asked not to wear a Superman symbol shirt unless they are the Super Camper.

There was a period in the '90s that the Super Camper shirt was a Batman Tee but it was quickly switched back to Superman.

The Super Camper tradition was brought to Birch Rock by Pete Haas in the 1970s.
