Birch Rock's flagpole area is an important place where the camp gathers at least twice everyday. The morning flag-raising is a time to hoist the flag, say the pledge, and review the daily worksheet. The evening flag-lowering not only allows us to bring the flag down but also to announce the inspection winner and Super Camper, sort of a review of the day. Flagpole is primarily run by the Head Counselor with the campers and staff standing by cabin in three lines. Directors and other leadership along with visitors will stand in an additional back or side line or up on the lodge porch.

Birch Rock's First Flag Raising
Old Glory took to the sky for the first time at Birch Rock on the 1926 birthday of our nation. In the picture, Billy Carleton is sounding "To the Colors" and the youngest boys in camp, Erik Johnson and Colin MacLaurin, are raising the flag.
