All of the profiles below are based on interviews by campers in the summer of 2012. Thank you to all friends of the Birch Rock Historical Society.

In 1992, the staff was called "the Sideshow" that summer.  With Director [[Bob Van Dyk]] leading the charge and a staff made up almost entirely of [[Campfire]] MCs, the theatrics and goofiness was constant.  There were many surprises every single day.  With a lack of equipment or not enough staff, but most importantly not enough campers, it was difficult to run activities (i.e. try teaching a double play in baseball with one camper), which meant the staff needed to entertain in other ways.  Announcements after meals would be known to go an hour or longer sometimes.

Staff planned a week where each counselor would take a day of the week as their day to come up with something fun.  Some of the memorable ones were Ron Mattson eating breakfast in the rafters of the lodge or the staff all serving breakfast in bed to their cabins (walking back and forth to the lodge).

* In 1983, Upper Camp, which was just Eagle's and Buzzard's, had a massive toga party involving bug juice and sweets, but more importantly music and good times.

* There is a "Upper Camp Quad" with a fire pit and wooden seats (usually birch stumps) located in the middle between Owl's, Buzzard's, and Eagle's. This area was constructed in 2000 by the Art program when it was run by [[Ryno]].

After the summer of '94, the [[Lodge]] was jacked and had the patio area torn away.  Then it was placed back down on a new cement foundation.  This marked a new chapter for Birch Rock.  Since then Birch Rock's numbers and support has grown.  This was a pivotal moment for modern day Birch Rock.
* [[Owl's Perch]] is the newest cabin in Upper Camp, [[Eagle's Nest]] is the oldest cabin, and [[Uncle Tom's Cabin]] no longer exists but was in the location of [[Pete's Palace]] and is almost completely forgotten about.

* A checker board was carved into the very large stump downhill of Owl's in 2000 by [[Thomas Joyce]]; the tree that stood there can be seen in old photos of Upper Camp.
