Rat's Nest was a staff cabin that was demolished and rebuilt as Deneault's Den in 2006. Oral history places its construction date at 1936 for the Head Counselor that summer, Charles Downs. The building was located on the opposite side of the road from Injun Joe's and was mostly surrounded by trees and underbrush. The woods surrounding the cabin, rustic bark siding, and rules forbidding campers to go near it gave the cabin an air of spookiness and mystery. Mike and Phyllis Deneault lived in the cabin together for a few years with their baby, Albert's cousins from Jamaica lived there when they worked in the kitchen, during most of the 80's and 90's it was used for women at BRC to change into their swim suits, and Ryan Massey lived in it in the early to mid 2000s. The cabin was pulled down by Don Munn with a back hoe and burned to ashes by Doug Miller and Ryan Massey over a period of two days. Char marks can still be seen on the large Black Birch next to Deneault's Den.
