Zim & Zam Zambini 1983

The Zambini Brothers have been popping up off and on for many summers, going back at least to the mid-70s. Many great pairs of counselors have had the honor of being Zim and Zam Zambini. Some of the most memorable pairs have been Hub Burton & Phil Goodwin, Toby & Seth Brewster, and Mike Mattson & Dave Jenkins. Toby & Seth were the masters of the Banana Trick, and Mike & Dave added Mirror Push-ups in the late '80s.

In 1989, Birch Rock went over to Waganaki (this ended up being Waganaki's last season) for the day and in the evening had Campfire on their beach near the waterfront. A large fire was lit on the beach, and Waganaki had one of their staff members tell a few jokes to warm up the crowd. Then the excitement began with the arrival of Zim and Zam (Mike & Dave) who proceded to run in and leap over the fire. Zim (Dave) leapt first and hooked his foot on the top flaming board which then stood straight up in the air. Zam (Mike) was right behind and soared right into the flaming board. The resulting display of sparks and fire exploding against a fast moving body made for a spectacular entrance. Luckily Zam landed unharmed, and the two moved right into their routine.

Zim & Zam Zambini have declared to be from many different countries and are circus-like world travelers. They've seen it all and need to often warn their audience, "Do Not Try This At Home!"
