Our motto may have been inspired by the that of Camp Dudley, “The Other Fellow First." Dudley is the oldest summer camp in the United States<ref>http://campdudley.org/camp-dudley/fast-facts/</ref>; it had been in existence for forty summers by the time Birch Rock was founded.
