Between the summers of 2004 and 2005, the old [[Director's Cabin]], a cabin that was lived in by many of Birch Rock's past directors including [[Chief Brewster]], was torn down and rebuilt as the camp's first insulated, year round structure.  The first floor was used as Director [[Mike Mattson]]'s residence and the basement space was used for the art program.  It was also used in the off-season for those visiting camp during the winter months.  Sadly, less than four years after it was built, it burned to the ground four days before Opening Day 2008.
