Campers doing calisthenics at the beginning of instructional swim

Instructional swim an activity where campers learn to swim. It is mandatory, every camper is signed up for it one period every day there are activities. Instructional swim starts with some stretches and exercises. After that usually come laps which are done in the cradles or out in the swim area. Other than laps, there is sometimes diving practice, diving for rings, or just relaxing and having fun out on the raft. Instructional swim is unlike other activities because it does not have badge parts. Instead a camper can do a long distance swim if the waterfront director thinks he has the ability to do it.
