On any given page there are certain navigation elements to be aware of. These links go to pages on Birchrockopedia that can be useful to you. There are four groups of links on any page.
- The sidebar on the left
- The tabs at the top
- User links in the top right
- Privacy policy, about, and disclaimer links at the bottom
This article explains the uses of each group of links.
The left sidebar
The left sidebar has links to go to important pages on Birchrockopedia. Firstly there is the logo which you can click to go back to the main page. Below that there is the navigation toolbox. This box includes links to a few of the most useful pages. Below that is the search box. At the bottom of the left sidebar there is the toolbox which has links to do things pertaining to editing.
The top tabs
There is a group of tabs at the top of any page that lead you to pages useful for editing. There is the discussion tab, which directs you to the talk page for the page you are looking at; the edit tab which takes you to the editing page; and the watch tab which sets your account to watch the page you are currently on for changes. There is also a history link which lets you see the page's edit history and restore old versions of it, a delete tab which lets you delete that article, and a move tab to move that article. The tab farthest to the left shows you what namespace the article you are looking at is in.
User links
If you are logged in you can see some new user links at the top right of any page. If you click on the link with your username you go to the mini page about yourself which you can edit. To the left of that you there is a link that takes you to your message board. The my preferences link takes you to a page where you can edit your personal preferences for this site. There is also a link to see the pages you are watching and a link to see all the contributions you have made to Birchrockopedia articles. There is finally a link to log out.
Bottom links
The links inside the orange lines at the bottom of any page take you to important site-related pages. The little "Powered by MediaWiki" picture is a link to the MediaWiki homepage.
