Nature is an activity campers can sign up for to learn about nature, and specifically the plants and animals of Maine. Nature stopped being an activity at Birch Rock for a long time but it was brought back in 2005 by Blake Massey. It takes place in the Fish Hatchery.

The Baxter is the first nature badge. It was named after Percival P. Baxter, the governor of Maine from 1921-1925 who singlehandedly donated most of the land of Baxter State Park to the state of Maine. Baxter State Park is the home of Katahdin, Maine's highest peak.
