Rangeley Lake is a lake where [[senior campers]] often go on a canoing trip. It is located in Franklin County, Maine. It's waters flow out of the lake's northwestern end into the short Rangeley River, then into Mooselookmeguntic Lake, the Androscoggin River, Merrymeeting Bay, the lower Kennebec River, the Gulf of Maine and ultimately the Atlantic Ocean. The lake is on average 95 feet deep and at its deepest point it is 149 feet deep. The area the Rangeley Lake takes up is about ten square miles. Maneskootuk Island (also called Doctors Island) is in the eastern part of the lake. In the western part there is a small group of islands called South Bog Islands.

The trip begins in Cupsuptic Lake which soon merges into Mooselookmeguntic Lake (Mooselookmeguntic is the Abenaki word for moose feeding place). By the second day, the trip paddles to the other side of Mooselookmeguntic all the way to the Upper Dam separating Mooselookmeguntic from Upper Richardson Lake. A short portage around the dam takes the trip into their third lake with Cranberry Cove a short paddle away. Cranberry Cove is known for its wild cranberries and plentiful wildlife including maybe a moose. The rest of the trip consists of canoeing all the way down to the end of Lower Richardson Lake. The entire trip is four days and three nights and more than thirty miles long.
